Satisfied employees do NOT equal engaged employees. Here are 3 main factors of employee engagement.

1. Trust

Following through on promises is a biggie in employee engagement. If your employees can’t trust you, expect disengagement.

2. Maslow’s Hierarchy

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs in the Workplace examines levels of engagement. This is an excellent resource to measure the level of engagement in your company.

3. Environmental

There are many reasons people stay, even if engagement levels are low.


Increasing engagement involves a multi-faceted approach that has employee needs and organizational goals at its core. If employees are your customers (and they are), you need to devote as much efforts to them as you do for external customers.
